Sir Food-A-Lot

Welcome! I hope you find reading this blog as enjoyable as I do writing it. I'm a guy who loves food. Yes, I realize that there are lots of us "bloggers" that love food. So, you ask yourself, why should I follow Sir Food-A-Lot? The answer is simple, I'm passionate and knowledgeable. I plan to give you fun things to read, including: restaurant reviews, recipes, and simple techniques to help the home cook take meals to a new level.

What will set my writing apart? I hope you will notice that I bring my own unique voice to the world of food. I will tell you what I learn, think, see, and taste in my words not the jargon that we all read in magazines and articles all over the place. You will truly get to learn Malcolm's (Sir Food-A-Lot) perspective and I hope it's entertaining and helpful. Your feedback is always taken seriously and incorporated when appropriate.

So, here we go...enjoy!

Labor Day Cookouts

This is a bittersweet day for me. Those that know me well remember all the smoked and grill meats I generally put on the table for any cookout let alone on Labor Day. Well, not this year and it is a serious point of sadness for me. Sadness and loss, let me add. Why do you torture yourself Malcolm? Why aren't you on the back deck right now building a fire in your wonderful Weber kettle grill? Well that would make it all better I'm sure but having moved to a condo with wooden decks presents a problem when the insurance provider doesn't allow charcoal grills. Dag nabbit! So I sold the Weber (and am counting the days until I can buy another one just like it!) last summer to a very lucky guy (I had used it less than 20 times in the one summer I had it) and now only get my true grilling fixes when I visit friends and family. And isn't that what today is all about anyway? Of course, I'd rather be the one standing over the fire doing the cooking but I am sure that I'll be extremely pleased by my cousin's offerings. She can throw down, ya'll!

Now that I've had the opportunity to vent about my continued, tortured, grill-less state of being I'm feeling hungry. So we're off to the suburbs for what is sure to be a ton of food and gallons of beer and booze, now that I think about it perhaps THAT is what days like today are about. Ok, ok family and friends come first but food and booze certainly make them easier to deal with. ;)

I wish you and yours a very happy, full-tummy (if I can use that as an adjective), and slightly buzzed Labor Day. Fire up your grills, turn up your stereos, and invite the neighbors over so they don't complain about the noise! Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends.

  1. Dude. I wish you were standing over a grill, too because your sh*t is the best. I can't wait till you get that back and I can come visit you wherever you are.
